The former Liverpool centre-half drew an interesting comparison between Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo, pointing out that even Manchester United were unable to hold on to their star despite consistently winning the Premier League and even experiencing a Champions League victory, neither of which Liverpool can now offer Salah. He looks like he's got goals in him every game.
It makes his £37m move from Roma in the summer look an absolute bargain, and with the transfer market as it is now Liverpool will be looking to quadruple that fee if they ever made a decision to sell.
He was denied regular opportunities during a stint at Stamford Bridge, but is making up for lost time now.
Mohamed Salah has admitted his delight at joining boyhood club Liverpool and is revelling in being a regular goalscorer for the Reds.
"We also spoke after the match against Man United this season and have a good relationship".
"Three years ago I didn't play much, but since day one back in England I wanted to show what I can do".
Salah undoubtedly has the superstar factor needed to help teams win trophies, and if Mourinho had taken him to United, the gap could be much smaller between them and City.
Salah added: "I don't know if it's up to me to say that, so maybe I'll let the fans say that!"
The departure of former Reds hero Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona last month has left a "King of the Kop" void among Liverpool's home faithful - that is until they appointed Salah as Coutinho's successor.
