LeBron James: 'I like the pieces we have coming in'

Cleveland added guards George Hill and Jordan Clarkson as well as forwards Larry Nance Jr. and Rodney Hood, and all will have to take a crash course in Cavaliers 101. "So with the window we have with LeBron and with this team, we figured it was time to do something to re-energize the group but also to have sustainability going into the future". DeAndre Jordan remained with the Clippers, and Tyreke Evans didn't get a trade out of Memphis, meaning two of the names receiving heaviest speculation ahead of the deadline will be right back where they started. James also hopes Thomas "can get that bounce back" with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Knowing the motives of Los Angeles, it's obvious why they did this deal.

Isaiah Thomas, who was acquired during the offseason from the Celtics in exchange for Kyrie Irving, was the first to go Thursday morning.

Chris Fedor, who writes for Cleveland.com now, believes the 2017 National Basketball Association finalists have secured more help for James in areas where they had ceased to compete.

But the Cavaliers clearly decided they weren't going to waste what could be James' final season in Cleveland.

Isaiah Thomas is coming to the Los Angeles Lakers in an unexpected trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers, sources tell ESPN.

Wade, on the other hand, posted out a video thanking the Cavaliers fan base and their organization for their support while he was there, but overall, he's excited that himself and his family get to move back home to Miami.

Needing to be in a ball-dominant system, Thomas did not have much time to find his niche, and then, in a team meeting earlier this year, called out power forward Kevin Love for leaving a game early because of an illness. There were rumors a couple of weeks ago that the Kings would send the point guard to the Cavs in exchange for Frye and Shumpert, though a deal was never made. But I just want to be where I'm wanted. Wade has said he wanted to end his career with the Heat.

Thomas, who turned 29 on Wednesday, wasn't working out. The Cavs tried to incorporate him into their offense, but it was forced and bogging them down.

However, with the deadline hours away, James put together a 37-point, 15-assist, 10-rebound game on Wednesday that he capped with a buzzer-beating shot in overtime to edge Minnesota.

Lue tweaked his rotations against the Timberwolves, giving more minutes to rookie Cedi Osman, who provided an infusion of needed energy.

Some of that isn't his fault but that doesn't change the fact that Thomas is shooting 36.1 percent from the floor and 25.3 percent from three-point range on a high volume of attempts while still providing absolutely no defense.
