Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, Note 5 Pro Launched, Mi TV Next


Xiaomi is betting high on the Redmi Note 5 Pro with the cameras.

Xiaomi launched the much-awaited Mi TV 4 smart television in India at an attractive price of Rs. 39999.

In addition to Mi TV 4, the company also launched the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphones with improved specifications.

The phone is powered by 2GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 14nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 506 GPU. The two phones are the successor to last years Redmi Note 4, that went on to reportedly become the largest selling phone in India.

At first glance, the Redmi Note 5 Pro can easily be associated with 2017's superstar gadget - the iPhone X. There's no other way to put it - the Redmi Note 5 Pro borrows the iPhone X's camera module blatantly.

The Mi Smart TV runs Xiaomi's PatchWall interface, customized for the Indian market. Xiaomi claims this is the world's thinnest LED TV, though the stand design means you won't be able to place it flush against a wall.

Mi TV 4 is 4.9mm thin with a 4K display that goes nearly all the way to the edge. It is the thinnest Redmi Note device ever launched with an 8.05 mm thickness.

Another more interesting thing here is that the Redmi Note 5 Pro variant will also get an additional 6GB RAM option, but the storage remains the same at 64GB, which is more than enough for this price segment. There is a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel of the device.

The device is expected to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 and might come with different storage variants. The front also features a selfie flash, front-facing camera and earpiece at the top. The device will be available from February 22 onwards for the base variant. The company has opted for the same 12-megapixel rear camera, which now comes with improved 1.25-micron pixel size and f/2.2 aperture.

The company is also regarded as the presence of Dolby+DTS Cinema Audio Quality on the Mi TV 4, with two 8W duct inverted speakers.

Both phones will still ship with MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat, but it shouldn't be long for Xiaomi to rollout an Android Oreo update in the near future given its good track record in software udpates. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 / 5GHz) 2X2, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Mi Port, 3 x HDMI 2.0, AV, 1 x USB 2.0 x 1, USB 3.0 x 1 and Ethernet.
