Man City get Fred; will it be Alderweireld next?

REAL MADRID are ready to go toe-to-toe with three Premier League clubs to land Toby Alderweireld, according to reports.

The veteran Swedish striker has struggled to make an impact during a second spell at Manchester United and has emerged as a top target for the LA Galaxy. The Belgium global, 30, is out of contract at the end of the season and could leave on a free transfer.

The Mirror claim on their website that the European giants are keeping close tabs on the Belgian international's situation at the north London club, and Real have joined a hunt for his signing which includes Manchester City and Manchester United.

Los Blancos beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday to put them in the driving seat in their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie and keep alive Real's hopes of winning the tournament for a third consecutive season. Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti wants the club to increase his salary to £5.3m a year - the same amount offered to him by Manchester United in January.
