Manchester City have hit back at Claude Puel's claims they showed Leicester City a lack of respect in their pursuit of Riyad Mahrez as the fall-out from the failed transfer showed no signs of abating.
Claude Puel says Leicester deserve to be shown more respect after nearly losing Riyad Mahrez to Manchester City in January.
"To make solicitation just one or two days before the end of the transfer window, I don't know if it is normal", said the Leicester manager.
"We don't have a lot of players with the same quality as Riyad".
"It was important to keep united with the players and the team - this is the most important thing".
"We need to move on, for him he needs to kick on, like the team".
Champions-elect City offered Leicester City a £65m package for Mahrez, including £15m-rated winger Patrick Roberts, but negotiations collapsed when the Foxes held out for an £80m cash deal.
Mahrez is set for a more prominent role and captain Wes Morgan could further boost Leicester after recovering from the hamstring injury that has kept him out since the turn of the year. I can't suffer this situation.
Mahrez, 26, made a shock U-turn last Friday, returning to the Foxes 24 hours before their trip to City.
He could now make his first start since the saga in tomorrow's FA Cup fifth-round tie against Sheffield United.
"It was a situation behind us, it was important Riyad gave his feeling in the dressing room, the details will remain inside the club", said Puel.
"I think for our fans, it will be important to put it right (the City game)", Puel said.
