The Steam Lunar New Year Sale is now underway, and as usual with major sales on the store, it features thousands of discounted games.
Finally, Valve has remedied one of the original Steam wishlist's more annoying omissions. Unlike in the past, Steam no longer does flash deals - all discounts will be available for the entire length of the sale. We've heard that players wanted to see a few key pieces of information on their wishlist and more ways to sort and filter. This can be frustrating when trying to find items during a large Steam sale or to finding purchases at particular prices.
Players can now apply a filter that hides non-discounted games and displays titles that currently only have a price reduction of at least 25 percent, 50 percent, or 75 percent. There's also the option to see the price of games that are below your Steam Wallet balance, $5, or $10. So now Steam displays the top-ranked tags for each item on your Wishlist. Once applied, a wishlist filter will remain in effect until manually disabled.
Below are some specific deals and you can visit the Steam Store to see the full list of now discounted titles. Many have dozens of games in their wishlist, but what if you're only in the mood for an RPG? Valve notes that, while this seems like a straightforward change, games with multiple versions complicated the switch. In some cases, you can add a title directly to your cart. Instead of an "Add to Cart" link, you'll see a "View Details" button. It's now possible to add a game to your basket directly from the list, without having to leap around to the store page first.
As always, Valve is looking for feedback on the new changes as well as suggestions on new features to add for the user experience.
