HBO reveals premiere date, full trailer for Joe Paterno biopic

HBO has released a full-length trailer for their upcoming film Paterno, starring Al Pacino as the titular figure, which can be viewed below.

The trailer begins with clips of Paterno remembering his college football legacy at Penn State before the reminiscence is cut short by one of his sons asking the cryptic question, "Dad, did you know about Jerry?" He'll follow that award-winning performance with Paterno, in which he took on the challenging role of disgraced Penn State Nittany Lions head coach Joe Paterno.

Paterno was sacked in November of 2011, after a grand jury report was released showing multiple allegations of child abuse against former Penn State defensive coordinator Sandusky.

Based on the trailer, the movie from director Barry Levinson delves into the extent of Paterno's knowledge about Sandusky sexually abusing young boys.

It ends on a cryptic note, with Paterno's wife (played by Kathy Backer) reminding him that Sandusky once "went in the pool with the kids". Riley Keough, star of The Girlfriend Experience on STARZ and also known as Elvis' eldest granddaughter, stars as Sara Ganim, a reporter for The Patriot-News in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, who first exposed the Sandusky scandal. If Paterno knew about Sandusky, he wouldn't have let them near his kids in such a situation, right?
