The Pakistani actress Hareem Farooq will host the opening ceremony of the third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) on February 22, 2018 in Dubai.

The league that was launched by a consortium of five entrepreneurs - with apprehensions looming over the tournament's feasibility on foreign soil - has not only grown in number and stature but also gone on to become the second biggest franchise tournament in the world after the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Sabbir Rahman got No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to participate in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The first (March 20) and second Eliminator (March 21) will be staged at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium and the final is scheduled to be played at National Stadium, Karachi, on March 25.

The third PSL started in Dubai on Thursday night and Ramiz believes this edition will take PSL to even more unprecedented heights.

"Multan Sultans is the latest addition to the PSL".

The controversy also affected the Islamabad United's title defence as their win percentage fell by nearly 20 per cent last season from the first season's 64. It would, therefore, be safe to say that the PSL's role in unearthing and refining a potential match-winner for Pakistan has been crucial.

He said there was no secret for the Sultans' successive victories and credited the entire team for the win. However, he did admit that the ban proved to be a learning curve for him.

A total of 34 matches will be played across different venues in Dubai, Sharjah, and Lahore. Defending champions Peshawar Zalmi took on the Multan Sultans in the curtain raiser.

For many, the Pakistan Super League is just another Twenty20 tournament, one of many in the cricketing calendar.

In what is a welcome move for global cricket and cricket in Pakistan, the country is scheduled to host three of the knockout matches this season, having hosted only the final last season.
