Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho explains why Chelsea match will be hard

"I think there's something behind the scenes, maybe the agent has got involved as well, but a manager like Mourinho won't back down to any player". Now Matic, unfortunately, is playing for Manchester United.

Manchester United go up against Chelsea today aiming to close the gap on Manchester City at the top of the table.

'Not on Sunday, but in the future'.

Matic was a regular for Chelsea a year ago, making 35 league appearances and also helping the club reach the FA Cup final.

Conte said last summer that selling the player was a "big loss" for the champions.

At Chelsea, he enjoyed great success - with three titles over his two separate spells - but his clashes against Chelsea have been more mixed, especially the Blues under current manager, and regular sparring partner, Antonio Conte.

Asked at his pre-match press conference if he would accept Mourinho's hand, the Italian said: 'I'm not interested to speak about this topic.

Danny Drinkwater replaces Cesc Fabregas in central midfield alongside N'Golo Kante, but Conte keeps faith with the same defence that held Barcelona to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their round-of-16 tie on Tuesday, with Andreas Christensen flanked by Cesar Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger.

Hiddink's compatriot was every bit as uninspiring during his time at Old Trafford, and the prospect of him replacing one of the best managers in the world in Conte is something that nobody wants to entertain.

"In some ways I admire Mourinho that he doesn't back down and play a player because he's bought him and he cost a lot of money". And Mourinho said his player should listen to the advice of his parents over his manager when deciding who his global future should lie with.
