Trump Personal Assistant John McEntee Fired, Will Join Re-Election Campaign

ABC News has also previously reported that White House Chief of Staff John Kelly wanted to see a list of remaining White House staffers with security clearance issues.

That distinction, instead, goes to former college football quarterback and marginally famous viral video star John McEntee, who served as the president's personal aide until Monday evening, when he was escorted from the premises without being allowed to clear out his desk or even grab his jacket. Other reports indicate the firing happened because he is under investigation for serious financial crimes.

McEntee was escorted from the White House on Monday. In particular, WSJ indicated there was an issue with his security clearance. CNN reports that McEntee is under investigation for "serious financial crimes" and is having issues with his security clearance, which at this point might be contagious enough in the White House these days to merit medical intervention.

News of McEntee's departure, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, came shortly after Trump tweeted that he would be replacing Secretary of State Rex Tillerson with CIA Director Mike Pompeo.

"It's not going to be great for morale", a White House official told The Journal about McEntee's firing.

McEntee, who joined the Trump campaign in its first months, is the latest of the President's longest-serving aides to leave or announce plans to leave the White House, following the resignation of White House communications direct Hope Hicks two weeks earlier. He made sure Trump was prepared when he met with people, delivered messages to the president in the residence portion of the White House.

They won't be completely without him.

"We need the help of proven leaders such as Katrina and John to promote the President's growing portfolio of achievements across the country", campaign manager Brad Parscale said in a statement.
