QB Case Keenum intends to sign with Broncos, sources say

Quarterback Case Keenum is plans to sign with the Broncos when National Football League free agency officially opens Wednesday, ESPN.com reported early Tuesday, citing unidentified sources.

The Denver Broncos certainly hope that will be the case with Case Keenum.

Keenum had what many would consider his breakout season in 2017 with the Minnesota Vikings, leading the team to the conference championship game after starting the season as a backup.

Keenum threw for 22 touchdowns and only seven interceptions while going 11-3 as a starter for the Vikings in place of the injured Sam Bradford last season.

That would leave the Vikings, Cardinals and Jets vying to land ex-Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins, who is expected to sign a record-breaking contract this week.

With a sparkling new stadium, stacked roster and head coaching stability, the Vikings jumped to the head of the line of potential suitors for Cousins.

At the scouting combine, two weeks before the start of free agency, Elway did compare the "fluid" nature of chasing a quarterback in free agency this year to the pursuit of Manning.

According to James Palmer of NFL Network, Denver has picked up the option for wide receiver Demaryius Thomas.

Siemian, Lynch and Chad Kelly, a seventh-rounder past year who sat out his rookie season with injuries, remain on the roster. The last quarterback to get his first 10-win season at the age of 29 or older and then repeat the same feat the following year?

Elway had said early in the offseason, "For us to have a chance to get better, we have to get better at that position". However, that wasn't good enough for him to get drafted. There were some things that we should have done differently that we didn't do.
