Suspected killer of NY college student arrested in Nicaragua, cops say

Anderson's body was found at 23 Oak Street Friday, the home of Tercero. They were both nursing students at BU and had a previous relationship. Police have yet to release how she died.

Police believe Tercero left the USA out of New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport the same morning Anderson's body was found.

Police in NY say Tercero is a person of interest in the killing of Haley Anderson, also 22, of Westbury, on Long Island.

Initially, police found Anderson's body on Friday afternoon after they were sent to do a wellness check at her home near the campus of State University of New York, Binghamton, where she was a registered nursing students.

Cornwell plans to issue an arrest warrant that will be taken to the Department of State to begin the extradition process. Despite confirming the arrest to the news organization, the Nicaragua National Police did not have any further information available.

The district attorney could not immediately be reached for comment Wednesday.

Cornwell also thanked the Binghamton mayor and police department "for their tireless efforts and resources over the last week" as well as Sen.

The district attorney's statement said "it would be inappropriate at this time to discuss the facts of the case".

The suspect in the death of Binghamton University student Haley Anderson has been arrested according to two Nicaraguan news outlets.

Authorities have not yet revealed how Anderson is believed to have died.

Meanwhile arrangements had been made for Anderson's funeral, for which money is being raised through a GoFundMe page.
