They were set to release last fall but were delayed into 2018 with no word as to a firm release date.
This time previous year we had all our money on an E3 reveal for Microsoft's Xbox VR plans. Should one rumor in particular be accurate, though, then Microsoft has some huge news in store for some of its most noteworthy franchises including, but not limited to Fable, Forza, and Halo. They're created to replace the avatars originally introduced alongside the Xbox 360 in 2008. Microsoft originally said it would roll out the new Avatar system in 2017 for PC and Xbox One, but it was delayed.
Microsoft's new avatars - similar to the avatars that were available with the Xbox 360 - allow users to make online characters featuring various body types, skin colours, clothing and of course, all-important props. Console manufacturer Xbox will host its 2018 Electronic Entertainment Expo briefing at 1pm on June 10. This new experience will take place in the Microsoft Theater (formerly the Nokia Theater) in downtown Los Angeles, right across the street from the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC), where E3 is held, and the Staples Center.
The annual Xbox E3 Briefing will now take place at the Microsoft Theater at LA Live, which will act as a central hub for other Xbox events during the week.
Kudos to Microsoft for providing more space for Xbox fans to enjoy upcoming games, and giving Mixer some stronger presence, but this could be interesting leading into future shows. We don't have all the facts yet, including what games will be on the show floor, but it seems like they're going big this year.
