Sam Darnold Throws for NFL Personnel at USC Pro Day

"However, the heavy rains were unscripted and could have been a disaster for Darnold, who opted not to throw at the Combine, putting all his chips in the middle for this workout".

A Jets contingent was on hand Wednesday in Los Angeles for the USC Pro Day to get a firsthand look at quarterback Sam Darnold, projected as a top pick, if not the top pick, in the draft.

Few NFL Drafts have as deep of a quarterback class as the 2018 NFL Draft, but after months of debate and workouts it appears USC's Sam Darnold has established himself as the top quarterback.

"Quarterback pro days are heavily rehearsed, following a custom script, and Darnold's pro day wasn't any different in that regard", said NFLDraftScout.com senior analyst Dane Brugler. "Being aware of all those (technical skills), coming out and ripping it". "The team that falls in love with me, they're going to pick me and I'm going to be with them". With Gang Green's shot callers having not seen Darnold throw at the combine, they surely didn't need much convincing to jet chilly Florham Park.

While there is no clear consensus, many have Darnold leading the pack. Darnold was twice a league MVP. If a coach or scout attends a pro day it's one thing; when the owner travels across the country to meet a player, it says a lot. Last season Darnold threw for a school-record 4,143 yards and 26 touchdowns as USC won the Pac-12 championship for the first time since 2008.
