Gas prices have increased 9.4 cents from last month's average and have increased 17.1 cents from last year's average. The average price in the Shoals was $2.21 on January 2.
Gas prices braked in Southwest Florida over the past week, but analysts say a spring surge is still likely.
Average retail gasoline prices in Wyoming have fallen 0.8 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.47/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 494 gas outlets in Wyoming.
AAA anticipates gas price averages are likely to continue their upward trend leading into the summer driving season as the switchover to more expensive summer blend gasoline begins (switchover day is May 1). A preview from S&P Global Platts of US data to be published last this week anticipates gasoline stocks dropped another 2 million barrels.
"I still believe there is still room for those prices to go up, but we've seen continued high demand for gasoline, even higher than in 2017, when gas was much cheaper than we are now", Redman said. Last year's spring driving season saw demand measured at 9.25 million barrels a day at the same time in 2017.
Prices were still 21.6 cents higher than this time a year ago in Arkansas and 9.6 cents higher per gallon than this time last month.
By region, the West Coast is the most expensive, with four states posting averages above $3 per gallon.
Also seeing relief at the pump with 1 cent price declines: South Carolina, Georgia, Texas and Louisiana.
Gas prices rose last week for the fourth consecutive week, although the rise in fuel prices was tempered by concerns about a trade war between the United States and China.
