Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium arrives with dual cameras and 4K HDR screen

While we don't know exactly how the new XZ2 Premium camera will perform, we have seen a preview of the tech already showing some keen low light skills.

The display isn't the only thing with the HDR tag on this phone; the XZ2 Premium joins the standard XZ2 in offering 4K HDR video recording as well. The earlier launched Xperia XZ2 came with Full HD+ 18:9 display.

The Japanese company says its "AUBE fusion image signal processor" is going to cut down on noise, as shooting this high on a phone would usually produce little more than an eye-sore, but we'll have to wait and see. Yes, the aim is to give you better low light imaging and everything about that camera screams "low light". It also features the same Super Slo-Mo capability of capturing 960fps video at HD resolutions found in previous Sony flagship phones.

Coming to the detailed specifications, the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium comes with a 5.8-inch 4K HDR Triluminus display with the X-Reality for the mobile engine. However, while the sensor is capable of recording 4K HDR videos, it's not clear yet if the main sensor is capable of recording at 60fps. This Xperia XZ2 Premium, however, could bring fresh life to Sony's struggling mobile division.

Sony is pushing a new "Dynamic Vibration System" for this phone, which supposedly analyzes audio data from videos and games to let you "feel the action in your hands". "The front-facing 13MP camera comes equipped with a 1/3.06" sensor and its own flash.

There might not be a headphone jack added to the smartphone, but at least you are getting a USB Type-C to 3.5mm audio jack adapter in the packaging.

The dual-SIM (Nano) Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium runs Android 8.0 Oreo. It has a 3D glass surface that surrounds the exterior to create a seamless finish that's comfortable to hold and easy to carry. The smartphone is water resistant (IP65/IP68 certified) and features Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It'll be sold in two colors: Chrome Black and Chrome Silver.

The phone packs 3540 mAh Battery with Qnovo Adaptive Charging technology, Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and Qi Wireless charging.

At present, a specific release date and pricing has not yet been made available but the smartphone will hit the market sometime from summer 2018.
