Internet, satellite existed in Mahabharata era, says Tripura CM Biplab Deb

"In reality, this technology is ours", he said during his address on Computerisation and Reforms at Pragna Bhawan in the state capital. He further stated that internet existed even during the times of Mahabharata. "It means internet was there, the satellites and that technology was there in this country at that time", Deb said.

"Many may disagree but if the internet was not there, how could Sanjaya see the war in Kurukshetra and describe it to Dhritarashtra?"

The BJP leader said that the European nations and the United States may claim that it is their invention, but it is actually India's technology.

"The internet was invented by India lakhs of years ago, not by U.S. or other western countries", Deb claimed in his speech.

"This was due to internet and technology. See Microsoft, it may be a U.S. company but most of its engineers are all from our country", he added.

He said since the era of the Mahabharata, India was top in technology but somehow in the middle, it got lost.

In 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told a gathering of doctors and medical staff at a Mumbai hospital that cosmetic surgery existed in ancient India.

Deb, 47, turned into a party heavyweight after pulling an unprecedented victory against the Mani Sarkar-led CPM in the recently contested Tripura elections.

He also courted a controversy in January when he discredited Charles Darwin's theory of evolution and said it was "scientifically wrong".

The Ex-RSS pracharak has completed only a month in his office since BJP came to power after 25 years.

It may be noted that this not the first time that a BJP minister has said such freaky things.

Earlier, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had compared Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) missiles and rockets to arrows of Lord Ram.
