Watson and Dhoni power Super Kings triumph

Pant began his innings with a six and a four off Watson to get going immediately, but was involved in an bad mix-up with skipper Shreyas Iyer that accounted for the latter.

Watson earlier had scored a stunning century on the same ground against the Rajasthan Royals, which was also Super Kings first match in Pune after their matches were shifted from Chennai. Delhi showed fire in them against Kolkata. Watson was back to his brutal best after three low scores and shared a 102-run opening stand off 66 balls with Faf du Plessis (33, 33b, 3×4, 1×6) after surviving a close lbw call early on. In the same over, Dhoni slammed a 108-metre six, the second longest of this year's tournament. The live telecast of the IPL 2018 match between CSK and DD will start at 8 PM on April 30 (Monday).

Rayudu remained party to Dhoni, smacking 41 off 24 deliveries before getting run out in the final over. Trent Boult delivered another one of his inswingers and Watson looked to have been caught plumb in front of the wicket but the on-field umpire ruled in favour of the batsman.

After Gautam Gambhir chose to step down and Shreyas Iyer was given the commands, DD posted the highest total of the season and Shook all 10 KKR's wickets, winning by 55 runs.

However, Du Plessis soon departed as Vijay Shankar produced the breakthrough for DD.

The duo added 79 for the fourth wicket off just 36 balls that set the match up for the two-time champion.

Watson, as he did from the start, continued his fine run with some boundaries but his fiery knock came to an end by Amit Mishra.

The Delhi bowlers were all over the place, especially the experienced Boult and Laim Plunkett who leaked 100 runs in seven overs between them.

When the former Australian all-rounder departed, the unsafe combination of Rayudu and Dhoni got together in the 14th over. "Don't ask me who all are playing, we have so many changes", Dhoni said. This time, as Orange Cap holder Ambati Rayudu walked in at No. 4, there was no danger of any slackening of pace as he and Watson provided the impetus.

Following a couple of failures after his century, Shane Watson (MoM) came good on the night with a 78-run hand, scoring at a strike rate of nearly 200.

It is understandable that teams want a player who can make a big impact in the XI but with Pollard barely bowling these days (Has bowled less than eight overs since the 2015 IPL), his role is restricted to that of a batsman. Asif picked up a wicket in each of his first two overs by hitting the bat hard, ensuring that the momentum was never with the visiting side, while Ngidi was all class all the way through.
