Evangelicals Celebrate Opening Of Jerusalem Embassy

"We are deeply grateful to President Trump for finally recognising the reality that Jerusalem is the eternal, indivisible capital of Israel, the homeland of the Jewish people, and that the United States Embassy belongs in Jerusalem", wrote evangelical Ralph Read, chairman of the Faith and Freedom Coalition and director of the powerful Christian Coalition during the 1990s.

"We thank you every day that you have given us a president who boldly stands on the right side of history, but more importantly stands on the right side of you, O God, when it comes to Israel".

Romney - the former MA governor, who is now running for the U.S. Senate in Utah - said in a tweet, "Such a religious bigot should not be giving the prayer that opens the United States Embassy in Jerusalem".

And, Mr. Ambassador, it is my distinct honor to accept this unique recognition, from the State of Israel, for President Donald Trump, a man who I believe is the greatest defender the Jewish State has ever had sitting in the Oval Office. Turkish President Erdogan has revived his war of words against Israel and has called for "an extraordinary summit" of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for undisclosed reasons.

Late last month, Jeffress contended during a dialogue event with Jewish conservative radio personality Dennis Prager that although Jews and Christians worship the same God, both religions can't be right.

Pastor Robert Jeffress preaches at First Baptist Church of Dallas. And the fact that I and tens of millions of evangelical Christians still believe that is not bigoted and it's not newsworthy.

"Embassies certainly have their free will sometimes to make decisions about who they want to bring in as guest lecturers or people to lead a ceremony or some sort of a celebration", she said. "Without President Trump's determination, resolve and courage, we would not be here today".

"The significance of today is not lost on those who love and support Israel and on those who understand the biblical and historical significance of Jerusalem to the Jewish people", said ICEJ US Director Susan Michael.

Trump claims that somehow the move will also help the United States broker a peace deal between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Some Jewish people, though, say the move was purely political.

They had an honest and friendly exchange with each other and with the Fox hosts in which Prager explains his religious belief that because God is fair, a person can earn his way to Heaven through living a good life.

- Jews do not speak the same language they did 2000 years ago since Israeli Hebrew and ancient Hebrew are not the same (see here).

Jeffress has also reportedly described gay people as taking part in "the most detestable acts you can imagine", and slammed Mormonism as "a cult" in 2012, Haaretz reported ahead of the embassy opening. You know who said that, by the way?

"This belief in Jesus - in the gospel - is not unusual", he added.

"Historic Christianity has taught for 2,000 years that salvation is through faith in Christ alone", he said. The three greatest Jews in the New Testament: Peter, Paul and Jesus Christ.
