Melania Trump to appear at Ford's Theatre gala

Her office didn't inform news organizations that she had attended until after the event. "The first lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere", a statement from White House Communications Director Stephanie Grisham read.

This appearance is one of Melania's first since being away from the public eye for 25 days while she recovered from kidney surgery. At the end of the program the first lady made a report at the scene. "Melania is a true pro at closing people down if they broach a subject she doesn't want to talk about, and the health of her body is one such topic that she considers off limits; she flat out refuses to discuss her "disappearance" as it's her business, and hers alone".

Mr. Trump said of the first lady's health struggle on June 8 that Mrs. Trump was not traveling to the G7 Summit in Quebec because she had a "big operation" and can not fly for a month, according to Newsweek.

"I was honored to be part of such a special evening". "Tonight reminds all of us about the power the arts have in cultivating the American voice".

The president, before departing Friday on the trips, told reporters the reason she didn't go on either trip is that doctors told her she couldn't fly for a month. "Thank you to Ford's Theatre Society for tonight, and your continued dedication to education and leadership in the arts - the impact they have on society is invaluable and something we will continue to cherish throughout time", as reported by CNN.

The White House did not explain what led Melania Trump to seek treatment or whether the "benign kidney condition" meant she had a benign tumour or something else.

There are a range of recommended waiting periods to avoid discomfort and blood clotting while flying, but three experts, who have not treated the first lady, said that if Melania Trump's procedure had no complications, as the White House has repeatedly said, it would not be unheard-of for a physician to clear her for travel.

"Thank you for all of your prayers and best wishes", wrote President Trump.

This isn't the first time the first lady has likely used fashion as a way of speaking without saying a word.

The source added: "I don't know exactly when the move is supposed to happen, but it is being talked about as a permanent move".
