Basketball star LeBron James signs a $154 million deal with the Lakers

James has played in the NBA Finals eight consecutive years. Leonard only has one year left on his current deal, but the Spurs aren't about to let that get in the way of them wanting as much as possible in return.

He wrote his name into Cleveland folklore by delivering a first championship to the city in 52 years when the Cavaliers won the National Basketball Association title in 2015-16. On Friday, the team posted a tweet with James, one of his sons and Rams owner Stan Kroenke on the field before a Rams game. The team from OH made a number of trades at this past year's trade deadline, drafted Collin Sexton with the No. 8 pick in the NBA Draft and have most of its core outside of James, of course, locked up.

The 33-year-old ended speculation surrounding his future early on Monday morning, announcing his eagerly-anticipated move via a press release on Twitter.

The Decision 3.0 has been made and LeBron James is taking his talents to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: "LeBron James has chosen the Lakers and every other team in the National Basketball Association should be wary of this storied franchise right now". The best the two teams can do is meet in the Western Conference Finals.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer has chronicled LeBron's career from its pages, and to see the progression over the years from the paper's front page is strangely touching.

Los Angeles is also pursuing a potential trade for Kawhi Leonard and has spoken with free agent center DeMarcus Cousins, according to multiple reports. After two championship seasons in Oakland, McGee posted on Twitter, "Thank you Dub Nation for two incredible years". He has also played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans and Minnesota Timberwolves. The game's best all-around player and biggest star will now lead a young Lakers team that has been overmatched in recent years while rebuilding but will instantly rise with James.

In Cleveland, the city James is leaving behind for the second time, several Browns players have offered to step in and be the city's star.

Instead, James signed a four-year deal with the Lakers (with a reported opt-in for the fourth year).
