Kasper Schmeichel has been linked with Chelsea and AS Roma, but John Arne Riise has stated on social networking site Twitter that he hopes that Liverpool sign the Leicester City goalkeeper in the summer transfer window. Now, according to a report in Marca, Chelsea have emerged at the head of the queue for his signatures.
"I have some ideas in my mind, but I am focusing on the World Cup and have pushed all decisions ahead until after the tournament".
While Roma are seemingly keen on Schmiechel, the bookies believe he could move to one of Leicester's Premier League rivals this summer.
"My kids are the most important for me".
At Liverpool, the goalkeeping situation has been eerily uncomfortable for a while now.
The pair are battling to keep hold of their current number 1 goalkeepers, in the shape of Thibaut Courtois and Alisson, but could fail and be forced to scour the market for a new custodian. Also, with the future of Thibaut Courtois under heavy scrutiny, Alisson Becker is expected to be a ideal replacement. Contract negotiations with the Belgian shot stopper have been ended, and Chelsea are now looking to recoup as much as possible for him. Liverpool, meanwhile, have seemed to turn their attention elsewhere and Alisson's signing is no longer on their agenda.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, have only been willing to pay €40 million for him.
