New Joker movie with Joaquin Phoenix coming from Warner Bros

A new Joker origin story movie starring Joaquin Phoenix in the title role is officially happening, with production to begin this September, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Warner Bros.is yet to announce a release date for the film, but THR is reporting that filming is set to get underway in NY in September and that the movie could be ready for release in late 2019. Who's your favorite Joker actor from the Batman films over the years? Phillips is reportedly co-writing the script (with Scott Silver) in addition to directing the film, whose budget of $55 million puts it more in the realm of conventional crime thrillers than effects-heavy superhero CGI epics. The film will be produced by Emma Tillinger Koskoff and executive produced by Richard Baratta. Last month, it was announced that Warner Bros.is developing a solo movie surrounding Jared Leto's Joker, which would exist within the DCEU world. I don't really care about the genre, I care about the character and the filmmaker. Will it be The Joker narrating his own origin to the camera, giving Phoenix most of the film to play outside of any makeup and create a dramatic story that won't feature any insane plots or superhero setpieces?

There is no release date set for the Joker film, with a possible target being around late 2019; until then, I'll be coping with the news by writing the word "damaged" on my forehead with permanent marker.
