A FedExCup victor is the top honor on the PGA TOUR, having to excel both in the regular season and the four-event playoffs to become the season-long Champion.

PGA TOUR Commissioner, Jay Monahan, directly admitted that the shortened schedule was due to the effect of competing with the NFL and college football seasons. We've known the basics of the revamped schedule, which includes the movement of several significant tournaments and one major, for some time, but seeing them laid out together will come as a bit of a surprise for golf fans. "This will enhance the visibility of the FedEx Cup play-offs and overall fan engagement with the PGA Tour and the game as a whole".

Five-time PGA TOUR Winner and 2014 FedExCup Champion Billy Horschel has committed to the July 19-22 Barbasol Championship, it was announced today by tournament Executive Director Brooks Downing.

The Tour also adds two new events: the Rocket Mortgage Classic (week of June 24), the first Tour event in Detroit, and the 3M Open (week of July 1) in Minnesota.

Players from all over the USA and even outside the country are competing in this week's Girls Junior PGA Championship in Lexington. The BMW Championship will be held at Chicago's Medinah No. 3 in 2019 followed by the Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta.

"The commitment by players of this caliber is a great reflection of the confidence PGA TOUR pros have in our inaugural tournament, the golf course, our organization, and frankly, the positive image of Kentucky", Downing said. Then there is considerable change from past years.

Preparations for the final Dell Technologies Championship are underway and the 100-player field will have its unique Monday finish for one last time on September 3. Look at this run of tournaments starting with Pebble Beach in February and continuing with the Genesis Open at Riviera, WGC-Mexico Championship, Honda Classic, Arnold Palmer Invitational, Players Championhip, Valspar Championship, WGC-Dell Match Play, Valero Texas Open and Masters. Coinciding with the PGA Championship's first May dates since 1949 will be its debut at Bethpage Black on New York's Long Island.

The U.S. Open is scheduled for June 13-16 while the British Open will be the last of the four majors set for July 18-21 at the Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland.

The RBC Canadian Open will also move from the week following the Open Championship to a spot before the U.S. Open. Organizers expect to see many of these young ladies on the professional golf tour in the future.
