New Liverpool signing Fabinho has said that he will try and convince his former Monaco teammate Kylian Mbappé to join the club in the future.

Liverpool finished the previous campaign in fourth place, 25 points adrift of victor Manchester City, but Fabinho believes the new additions can help Jurgen Klopp's team push for the title in 2018-19.

Virgil van Dijk was wanted by Manchester City, Keïta by Barcelona and Bayern Munich, Fabinho was being courted by Manchester United but Klopp convinced them to join him on Merseyside.

"He [Mbappe] has already said this season he will remain at PSG, but I till try slowly to convince him to come over", Fabinho said.

"Kylian sent me a text message congratulating me on going to Liverpool", revealed Fabinho.

Jurgen Klopp convinced Jordan Henderson not to return early after his World Cup exploits as the midfielder looks set to sit out Liverpool's opening game of the 2018-19 Premier League season.

"But what France did was fantastic". What Mbappe did in two years of professional football is wonderful. "I hope we are in a situation where we don't need to think about using these two".

Liverpool finished a distance behind Pep Guardiola's centurions last season in the Premier League but, in the Champions League and one meeting at Anfield in January, the gap between the sides was fractional. I have just started with my team mates and I understand we have excellent players. "I have never had the chance to play against a team which had a good friend playing for them before". We have an excellent manager. Both are settling in very well and are really good additions to the squad.

Alisson kept 17 clean sheets in 37 Serie A appearances for Roma last season and helped the club reach the Champions League semi-finals, where they were knocked out by Liverpool. "For me, ambition is doing the right thing".

And while admitting he needs to adjust as the Reds play in a different way to what he is used to, he has declared his readiness to operate wherever Klopp wants him to.
