Former Chelsea boss Mourinho backs Sarri to succeed

However, new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has just over a week to keep hold of his prized assets and has delivered somewhat of a blow to the two Spanish giants who are in pursuit of Willian and Courtois.

According to some reports, an expired passport is the reason behind Willian's absence, but Sarri has branded the situation as odd. "Because I only want players with very high levels of motivation".

And while Willian's future is seemingly secure, whether or not Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard remain Chelsea players this season is a different matter altogether.

The news shocked City fans, but didn't come as such a surprise to many others, seeing as his former manager, Maurizio Sarri, had already made the switch to Chelsea not long before.

The move needs to be completed before August 9th, when the English transfer window closes, so that Chelsea would be able to buy a replacement.

Chelsea begin their Premier League campaign with a trip to Huddersfield Town next weekend, before facing Arsenal at Stamford Bridge a week later.

The Blues boss lost his first major game in charge at the club, with a 2-0 Community Shield defeat to Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

I don't think he will be hard work if he stays - we are very happy with his professionalism and his attitude. It depends on me and it depends on the players.

"I spoke yesterday (Thursday) with him about his lateness, not about his future".

Jorginho, admittedly, was one hell of a signing, and acquiring him ahead of Manchester City was a huge coup.

"We have very good midfielders, but maybe a midfielder with different characteristics [would be a good fit]".
