Barcelona pair Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes were joined by Brazil worldwide Bernard at Goodison Park, before Marco Silva moved to quickly snap up Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma on a season-long loan deal.

Bernard was the first to be announced on a free transfer after his contract with Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk ran out at the end of the past season. However after the initial loan Southampton will have an obligation to buy the Englishman for £20 million.

Everton will pay Barcelona £2m for the season long loan and will also pay the player's wages.

Barcelona have included a set buy-back option in their deal with Everton for Yerry Mina.

However, Manchester United were put off by the excessive demands made by the player's agents, which ultimately resulted in them pulling the plug on the move. The France worldwide, who spent last season on loan at Stoke City, had also been linked with Old Trafford but was in line to become Everton's fourth recruit of the day after paperwork was submitted moments before the 5pm deadline. Muhamed Besic was lined up for a £6m return to Middlesbrough only for the deal to collapse late on while Everton rejected several loan offers for Yannick Bolasie, who they want to sell on a permanent basis.

"I have watched the Premier League for a long time". Six months later and after a good World Cup, they have moved him on for nearly three times what they paid for him, despite him never quite performing during his short stay.

"I chose Everton because of all the things I had heard about Marco Silva and after speaking to him I was happy with what he said to me", he told evertontv. This is a great opportunity for me and I am looking forward to competing here.
