New Everton defender Yerry Mina has revealed that he is looking forward to the challenge of competing in the Premier League.

Barcelona confirmed defender Yerry Mina has signed for Everton.

Upon joining Everton, Mina told evertontv, "It is important that the club want to fight for something". "This is why I am here".

Moments later they also confirmed that Portugal global Gomes would join the Premier League side on loan. It is the best league in the world.

Although the new Everton boss is unable to call on his last-minute signings at Wolves on Saturday, he accepts that judgment of his team will be immediate.

He said: "I chose Everton because of all the things I had heard about Marco Silva and after speaking to him I was happy with what he said to me".

Everton will pay Barcelona £2m for the season long loan and will also pay the player's wages.

Newly-promoted Fulham brought in five new players, including Marseille midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa for a club-record £30m.

BBC reports that Mina's arrival means Everton have spent more than £60m in the past two weeks following the initial £35m arrival of Brazilian winger Richarlison from Watford, a deal that could rise to £50m.

Tottenham had been keen to bring in Aston Villa's 22-year-old midfielder Jack Grealish but were reported to have had a £25 million offer rejected by the Championship club.

It was during Mina's negotiations that they discussed the additional progress for Andre Gomes, and luckily concluded a deal for the Portuguese in time.
