Baker Mayfield: 'this crowd deserved to see that first win at home'

Fans were double-taking the win since the Browns hadn't seen a regular season victory since December 2016.

Some fans had taken to wearing paper bags over their heads in embarrassment of their team's unwanted record - that included becoming the second team in National Football League history to go 0-16 in a season - but all that changed on a night which saw an upturn in form for the Browns.

The team later said of the game's unsolicited mascot, "Shout out to this guy".

He posted multiple videos on his Instagram story throughout the game, too, and seemed to be the most excited when Baker Mayfield caught a two-point conversion pass from Jarvis Landry.

Shirtless J.R. Smith made his return Thursday night. and we all have Baker Mayfield to thank for it - 'cause the Cavs star WENT CRAZY after the rookie led the Browns to a win! "It's just when you pull them out and use them, that's what it is". "We don't play for 10 days".

Hue Jackson watched some film of Thursday night's win but still isn't ready to name a starting quarterback.

The Browns went winless last season. His only practice time running the Browns system and plays came when Jackson set up extra work for him, but with the backups and not the starters. "He comes to me and says, 'Your ass better throw me that ball". I truly believe that we are going to win a lot more games.
