#WhyIDidntReport: Twitter Reacts to Donald Trump's Attack on Christine Ford

Dr. Ford has claimed that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her at a party in the early 1980s when they were in high school, allegations that the 53-year-old attorney has denied. In Ford's case, the frankly horrific details, albeit sketchy due to repression and passage of considerable time, were first brought to Democrat Senator Diane Feinstein's attention, who tried hard to maintain the victim's anonymity for as long as possible.

She concludes the essay with explicit support for Ford and a denouncement of Trump and Kavanaugh.

TRUMP, during a United Nations meeting, defends KAVANAUGH: "Charges come up from 36 years old that are totally unsubstantiated?... and now a new charge comes up, and she says, it might not be him & she was totally inebriated... this is a con game being played by the Democrats". She told The Washington Post that she kept quiet about the alleged incident for years because she didn't want her parents to find out she was drinking underage.

However, it wasn't just women who shared their heartbreaking encounters with the world; men told their stories as well.

Trump took a similar "believe the man" approach when supporting the senatorial candidacy of Moore, a man accused of sexually assaulting teenage girls whilst in his 30s.

Leong, a university student, tweeted Saturday about an abusive relationship and said it took months to realise that what she had experienced was sexual abuse, and months after that to tell her friends. "So if my best friend didn't believe me why would anyone else #WhyIDidntReport".

Riverdale star Lili Reinhart and Double Jeopardy actress Ashley Judd, who was one of the first movie stars to go on the record in October 2017 about her alleged assault by Harvey Weinstein, both took to Twitter to share why they didn't go to authorities after being sexually assaulted or harassed.

"Why didn't someone call the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) 36 years ago?" the President tweeted.

There is no evidence to suggest Ford told her parents about an incident at the time, or that anyone in her family reported it to law enforcement in Maryland, where she alleges the attack took place.

"We know that allegations of sexual assault are one of the most unreported crimes that exist". On Twitter #WhyIDidntReport is the top trending hashtag.

Last October, Milano reignited the #MeToo movement on social media after she appeared on Good Morning America and declared that she would not be silenced when it came to sexual assault.

Pardon me that this might come off as a set of interview questions from a person of privilege here but I was stunned to see this. Once when I was a teenager.

"I feel so badly for him that he's going through this, to be honest with you", President Trump said in a news conference, according to BBC. "But, most importantly, if you are also a survivor, I encourage you to honor your own experiences and your own voice, in your own time".

Blasey has agreed to testify about her experience before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday.
