Amy Schumer and Emily Ratajskowki were among those arrested while protesting against Supreme Count nominee Brett Kavanaugh in Washington DC.

The former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model and actress is known for her political activism and strong stance on feminism.

Amy Schumer was one of the hundreds of protesters detained in Washington, D.C., Thursday as they rallied to urge senators to vote no on Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court.

'Men who hurt women can no longer be placed in positions of power'.

Before her arrest, Schumer addressed the crowd, telling them "a vote for Kavanaugh is a vote saying women don't matter".

As "Cancel Kavanaugh" protesters took over the Hart Senate Office Building near the Capitol, Schumer and other protesters were seen with their backs against a wall, surrounded by Capitol Police.

Social media video captured at the scene show police officers escorting protesters, including Schumer.

While Schumer's arrest was caught on camera and has since become a trending topic on Twitter, Ratajkowski reported hers on her own. "I demand a government that acknowledges, respects and supports women as much as it does men". I think we're gonna get arrested.

Earlier in the day, Schumer attended the #CANCELKAVANAUGH protest outside the E. Barrett Prettyman Federal Courthouse, with the likes of Lena Durham and Whoopi Goldberg.

"She loves you very much".

"That's what we're going to do".

As the protest entered the Senate Hart Building, Capitol Police peacefully started arresting protesters one by one. "I want to encourage anyone and everyone to get active if it's with a post or a march or a donation". Show up! We will keep fighting.
