Where do things stand with Jimmy Butler's trade request?

After Towns received the entry pass, Butler yelled, "He can't do [expletive] against me!" "Butler has told Minnesota that he'll leave in free agency in July - and wants a trade now".

Butler participated in drills and scrimmaged with Timberwolves, sources said.

For weeks, Butler has been advocating for a trade that would send him away from Minnesota.

As the Miami Heat continue to push for a trade that would bring Jimmy Butler to Miami, Butler returned to Timberwolves practice on Wednesday. He teamed up with the Wolves' third-stringers and took down the starters, all the while going after star players Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins on the court, as well as head coach Tom Thibodeau and General Manager Scott Layden verbally on the sidelines.

Minnesota had shared Butler's medical information with Miami late last week, sources said, a typical last step before finalizing a trade.

The Los Angeles Clippers and Houston Rockets also haven't given up on the idea of landing Butler in a trade, according to multiple sources and reports. Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor took a different stance and told owners owners at the National Basketball Association board of governors meetings that "Butler is available, and prospective suitors should contact Taylor himself", according to Wojnarowski.

With that in mind, the Heat appear to still be in pursuit.

Despite his owner's intent to deal Butler, Thibodeau wasn't done trying to keep his star shooting guard.

Jimmy Butler has had a big day.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Heat remain interested in restarting trade talks with the Wolves after the deal that seemed close to happening collapsed on Saturday.

Three days after the initial trade negotiations fell apart, Miami has not given up in its pursuit of Butler, according to Wojnarowski.
