Elizabeth Warren Was Celebrated as 'First Woman of Color' at Harvard Law

"As the daughter of Iranian immigrants who worked tirelessly to achieve the American dream, I can tell you that being of Iranian heritage is not bad", said Eskamani. Hostin went on to say that Warren should have offered to take the DNA test in exchange for Trump's tax returns, a statement that was met with huge applause from the audience.

"Using a DNA test to lay claim to any connection to the Cherokee Nation or any tribal nation, even vaguely, is inappropriate and wrong", he said Monday. Dr Bustamante could not say from Warren's DNA which tribe her ancestor belonged to; he was able only to compare her DNA to that of indigenous people in Peru and Mexico, as well as First Nations people in Canada, The NYT report said.

Following Warren's release of her report, the Cherokee Nation condemned its political intentions, and, unsurprisingly, Trump wasted no time in criticizing her too. Facebook and Uber investor Hadi Partovi flipped MAGA on its head when he said, "By calling us awful you insult everything that makes America great".

Native Americans also resented Trump's continuing use of Indian heritage as a means to mock Warren, a Democratic senator from MA who is widely expected to run for president in 2020. Warren has previously said that she checked a box to list herself as a minority in professional listings at her university from 1986 to 1995 in order to connect with "people like me".

"She's been consistently misleading the people of MA and the American people in saying that she had this claim".

To begin with, some members of her family vehemently deny any talk of Indian ancestry in the family. She added, "It's much more important to not focus on stupid topics like this", referring to the controversy over Warren's Native American heritage. She was never a Native American until 1986 when she gets hired into the ivy leagues and then keeps saying she's a Native American until she gets tenure at Harvard and then walks away.

And now we know, thanks to numerous documents discovered over the years and a DNA test released Monday, that it was all a lie.

DNA tests are typically done using a sample swabbed from the inside of a person's cheek.

In a series of tweets later Monday, Warren also accused Trump of having "memory problems" after he denied having said he would donate $1 million to charity if she had a DNA test that showed she has Native American ancestry.

Elizabeth Warren ultimately released her DNA results in order to prove to her critics she was not lying to get ahead.

Warren has also designated staff to help candidates in the states with early presidential primaries, including former staffers now working for state parties in New Hampshire and SC.

"I'm deeply uncomfortable with what Elizabeth Warren has done here. That will not be something I'll enjoy doing, either". President Trump tweeted about this Tuesday, making note of the 1/1024th statistic. "Even the Cherokee tribe's not wanting to claim her as one of theirs".
