Montgomery County sheriff's deputies have identified a 2-year-old boy who was abandoned on the front porch of a Spring home near Houston.

The surveillance video shows the woman running to the front door of the Houston-area home with the boy, ringing the doorbell and then running off to her vehicle. She can be seen ringing the doorbell and banging on the door, but then she runs off and leaves him behind.

A woman inside the home told police when she opened the door, she found the child by himself.

The father of the boy who was left on the doorstep of the Spring home said a friend of the boys mother dropped the child off at the wrong house and just left him there all alone.

"Right now, we are ecstatic that the child's father has been found and detectives are working with Child Protective Services to reunite the child with the father and family", Spencer said. "That is a felony charge", Spencer said. When she ended up in the hospital, she asked a friend to do it. She could face a charge of child abandonment, Spencer said. The incident lasted 23 seconds.

That never happened, Spencer said during the press conference, so the father assumed plans had changed and he left the neighborhood. She left before anyone came to the door. Child Protective Services took custody of the child and brought him to a foster family.

"When Deputies from the Sheriff's Office arrived, they reviewed video surveillance from the residence, and observed a female arrive at the residence in a white passenger vehicle".

The child was abandoned at the door with two bags.

They have appealed for further information about the woman and have described her as being in her mid-20's to early 30's with long hair reaching below her waist. At this point the identity of the suspect and the child are unknown.

The sheriff's office said, "On the morning of October 18, 2018, the father was leaving his residence when he was approached by our media partners asking if he knew anything about the child".
