France national team: Martial, Pogba, Lacazette out with injuries

Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette and Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko have been called up as replacements.

The Manchester United striker suffered an abductor injury during his first session back with the France squad after a one year absence.

The 27-year-old was left-out of Didier Deschamps' plans when the 23-man party to face Netherland and Uruguay was unveiled last Thursday.

Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba have withdrawn from the France squad through injury - despite meeting up with their worldwide team-mates at Clairefontaine on Monday.

However, the Mirror claim Lacazette informed French bosses within hours that he had to reject the worldwide call-up and make himself unavailable for selection due to a minor groin injury.

Borussia Moenchengladbach forward Alassane Plea replaced Lacazette and was expected to join his teammates at France's training camp outside Paris by Monday evening.

Despite his impressive form for Arsenal this season, Lacazette was not named in France's initial squad.

Sissoko's most recent appearance for the national team came in October 2017 in a 2-1 win over Belarus in World Cup qualifying.

"It is true that he is having a good early season where he is efficient and effective", said the Les Bleus boss.

"It is also necessary to have a balanced squad and he is a central attacker".

World champions France visit Netherlands in the Nations League on Friday before facing Uruguay in a friendly on November 20.
