Fortnite unveils Minecraft-like creative mode

"As a developer ourselves, we have always wanted a platform with great economics that connects us directly with our players", said Epic Games founder and CEO, Tim Sweeney.

So far there have been two teasers and they suggest a cold, winter theme is on the way, which is something that many fans of the game expected. More than a simple level designer, however, the new feature will give players the reigns to develop their own game mode. Any weapon or consumable can be spawned and up to 16 players can enter your island. You can load in maps from other activities, like Deathmatch, to test them in there.

This will need to be downloaded before you can gain access to the live servers, and will likely go live on all platforms at the same time. Each player will get four "islands" on which to create. These islands can be transformed with custom tilesets, buildings and props.

Take a look below and you'll find a list of the exact locations of the signs and, to make it even easier, we've put together a map to serve as a visual aid.

Season 7 Battle Pass owners will have access to their own private island for the first week of Season 7.

But with the new Creative Mode, you'll be able to do a lot more than that.

Fortnite will get some kind of announcement at the Game Awards on December 6, but don't expect it to be related to the launch of Season 7.

Fortnite is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC and mobile.
