The Game Awards 2018

We'll be covering the show from the red carpet to the final trailer, but you can also watch along right here on this 4K livestream. There's still a lot of secrecy surrounding them, but we do have some idea of the surprises in store.

The awards show, held annually in December, celebrates both game creators and game players, and gives fans a sneak preview of games set to be released in the future.

It's probably a little bit counterproductive of me, a writer for a video game website, to be getting exhausted of the hints towards what we should expect at the next videogame extravaganza, but here we are.

The Game Awards will take place later tonight at 5:30 p.m. PST/8:30 pm.

Lucy O'Brien is Executive Editor of Features at IGN. While we know some of the announcements we can expect, others have only been teased.

Along with the ceremony, The Game Awards will also be littered with performances and reveals. The new Far Cry title could have been one of those big announcements we're talking about days later, but now it's just another footnote in an upcoming event we already seem to know much of the landscape of.

We know Fallout: New Vegas developer Obisidan is working on a new RPG, and it looks like we might finally get a glimpse of it at The Game Awards 2018. Obsidian's official website and Twitter page have been counting down to the awards, teasing a "special message" is on the way.

Several influencers have received teaser items from Activision including Crash cookies and a pair of fuzzy orange dice. Smash coming out, there are going to be a ton of games that will be announced in the show that will go live that night.
