Trump, Obama, Clinton: is this the most awkward seating plan ever?

George W. Bush and wife Laura stood stoically outside the US Capitol as an honor guard carried his father's flag-draped casket to the hearse. Bush did not vote for him, and George W. Bush chose none of the above. Former President George W. Bush and his wife greeted the Trumps outside before everyone went in for the private, 20-minute visit. "It's called leadership. When George Bush was president of the United States of America, every single head of government in the world knew that they were dealing with a gentleman, a genuine leader, one who was distinguished, resolute and fearless". The Obamas shook the Trumps' hands and Michelle Obama told the president, "good morning".

Speaking to Shannon Bream on Tuesday, the national radio host said the mainstream media acted in a "vicious and partisan" way toward Bush 41 when he was president, similar to the treatment of other Republicans.

The national funeral service capped three days of remembrance in Washington before Bush's remains return to Texas on Wednesday for burial Thursday. They are, in addition to Bush's eldest son, Alan Simpson, the former senator and acerbic wit from Wyoming; Brian Mulroney, the former Canadian prime minister who also gave a eulogy for Ronald Reagan; and presidential historian Jon Meacham.

The cathedral service was a tribute to a president, a patriarch and a faded political era that prized military service and public responsibility.

Allen says the band is honored to keep its promise to Bush to perform at his funeral.

The train will take his casket, family and closest friends about 70 miles to College Station, where Bush will be buried later Thursday during a private service at his presidential library. Prince Charles, Barack and Michelle Obama, President Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were just a few of the people who attended the service.

The greetings between the former presidents and Trump were brief and courteous, albeit awkward.

Most federal government offices will be closed on Wednesday as many federal workers will get the day off. Barbara Bush passed away in April at age 92.

During his presidency, Bush was dogged by domestic problems, including a sluggish economy, and he faced criticism for not doing enough to stem the tens of thousands of deaths from the AIDS virus ravaging America.

None of that means, however, that Jeb Bush and President Trump's differences have been resolved.

"I said, "Dad, I love you and you've been a wonderful father, '" Bush recalled as he delivered his eulogy Wednesday at the Washington National Cathedral".
