De Jong on possible PSG deal: Nothing decided yet

City had appeared to be the frontrunners for De Jong, with manager Pep Guardiola thought to have likened him to a young Andres Iniesta. "Man City and Barcelona are great examples".

De Jong is the latest Ajax youth product to garner attention from across Europe after impressing since making his first-team debut in 2016.

If PSG are willing to pay the asking price, it would be a hard offer to reject for Ajax, who recently posted a picture of De Jong and De Ligt (whose price they have set at 65 million euros) on their twitter page with the message: "They're not going to Spain".

"With five games to go until the winter break, I just want to focus on this weekend's game against the PEC and the next one in the Champions League against Bayern Munich".

Manchester City may miss out on Ajax's Frenkie de Jong with reports that he has chosen to join Paris Saint-Germain next summer. We have permission from Ajax to speak to other clubs, they are aware of it.

"I can't be busy saying "I'm going there or there", as that would not show, for my part, any respect for Ajax and my teammates".

Mbappe has been keen on the club bringing De Jong to France to take up the playmaker role. The Paris club will be conscious of the fact they could lose Rabiot to Barcelona, and would see De Jong as a fitting replacement.

Expounding on the transfer speculation, in particular the stories surrounding a big-money bid from Ligue 1 champions PSG, he added: "It's an issue since the start of the season".

De Telegraaf newspaper claimed PSG had practically signed the player for 70m, however, although the Ajax player is in the process of arriving at the Parc des Princes, the Parisien's are clear that it won't be for that amount.
