Inquest told Prodigy star Keith Flint died from hanging

An inquest into Keith Flint's death has found that the The Prodigy vocalist hanged himself at his home in Essex last week.

Flint was found dead in his home in Essex, England on March 4.

A hearing was told that a post-mortem found the 49-year-old's provisional cause of death was hanging.

She said: "Police attended, all protocols were followed and his death was confirmed as not suspicious".

A full hearing will be held in the summer, and the death remains under investigation before toxicology reports are completed. As suspected, Flint died by suicide, as a result of hanging.

The BBC reports that United Kingdom coroners opened an inquest into Flint's death.

"Following the tragic death of Keith Flint all forthcoming Prodigy shows will be cancelled with immediate effect".

"A true pioneer, innovator and legend. He will be forever missed", the post read before thanking followers in advance for "respecting the privacy of all concerned at this time".

Flint's death was revealed last week, with his bandmates taking to Instagram to share a photo of the singer and write in the caption, "The news is true, I can't believe I'm saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend".

A spokesperson said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Numerous band's followers have since commented on the post, with one fan writing, "So sad about this and so sorry for dear Keith bless him".

They released their latest album No Tourists in November, their seventh consecutive number one record.
