"A disciplinary investigation has been initiated based on Article 31 (3) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations in connection with the statements made by Paris Saint Germain player Neymar Junior following the above-mentioned match", it read.

After Presnel Kimpembe was adjudged to have handled the ball inside his area by VAR in injury-time, Marcus Rashford scored from the spot to send Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side through to the quarter-finals in dramatic fashion. How can it be a handball when it hits...

"And UEFA still pick four guys who know nothing about football to review the VAR decision in slow motion. that handball simply doesn't exist! It's not a penalty", wrote Neymar on Instagram.

Injured Neymar could only watch on from the stands and later the touchline as his teammates threw away a two-goal lead from the first half.

Following the clash, UEFA announced they would be looking into the 27-year-old's post-match comments and have opened an investigation into the way he conducted himself online.

UEFA, on Wednesday, said a disciplinary investigation has started after the PSG forward criticised in an Instagram post the officiating of the defeat to Manchester United.

Neymar missed both legs of the tie after injuring his foot in January.
