Lakers Threatened To Void Lonzo Ball's Contract Over Unauthorized Surgery

The winds of change are at gale force in L.A., as the Los Angeles Lakers have "mutually agreed to part ways" with head coach Luke Walton after three seasons.

Williams is in his first season with the Sixers after he previously spent five years as the head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans before he was sacked. The next season, Walton served as the Warriors interim head coach for 43 games while Kerr recovered from a back procedure; Walton led the team to a 39-4 record.

In addition to Walton's firing, Lakers President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson stepped down Tuesday.

"I'm disappointed for Luke", Kerr said via Anthony Slater. Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka will run the search, a source told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. The swift job acceptance follows a disappointing finish to a season with large expectations following the acquisition of LeBron James.

"They are losing somebody who the players believe in and the players want to play for".

Those are the two the Lakers are set to interview first and the team has to make sure that whoever they hire have these three traits. But again, he was dependent on circumstances, just like all of us are. Working with Ball's then-agent Harrison Gaines, the Lakers' brass managed to convince the second-year player to nix the procedure. As the Kings are not the most stable franchise in the league, the hope is Walton gets enough time to develop their young core. Los Angeles missed the playoffs in all three campaigns.

Well, I think it's safe to say I called this one correctly. Walton's 246 games in charge were the most by any coach in the tumultuous near-decade since the franchise's last championship in 2010.
