As Johnson's group informed him, there was no penalty for the weird gaffe because it clearly happened while he was taking a practice swing.

"I was caught off guard", Johnson said.
The most impressive part of the sequence is that Johnson then stepped up and bombed a flawless drive down the middle of the fairway. "I actually hit a really good tee shot after that, so I think I recovered nicely".
As he prepared to hit his tee shot at the dogleg par 5, Johnson did his usual pre-shot routine where his driver gets a little too close to the ball, at least that's how it seems to us mere mortals.
"Zach's eyes were as big as I've ever seen them".
Despite the mishap, Johnson is positive that it was one-off, adding: "I don't think I could do it again if I even tried".
Johnson's actual drive went 285 yards down the middle of the fairway, and he knocked his approach shot on the green and two-putted for an easy birdie on the par-5.
Playing in consecutive groups during the second round Friday, Kisner and Johnson had some, let's just say, interesting moments.
